Freshly prepared pizza is such a wonderful treat. There really is no comparison when it comes to fresh dough, toppings, and sauce versus something from the freezer. With that being said, sometimes life calls for frozen pizzas. Frozen pizza is convenient, ready made, and super easy for weeknight meals when life is hectic.

There are so many ways to jazz up a frozen pizza and give it a fresher feel. A few of the tips given in this post are tips I regularly employ at home. I rarely fuss over fresh dough so if that craving for pizza hits, it's all about the frozen.

One thing I always do is grab a cheese only pizza. It's like a blank canvas! I can cater the toppings to my own tastes and chop up fresh vegetables to add to the pizza. It makes a world of difference biting in to a slightly cooked, crispy bell pepper versus one that was cooked, frozen, and soggy.

Another tip they mention that I regularly use at home is adding more cheese. There's nothing like taking a bite of a slice and seeing that cheese stringing from the slice to your mouth. Shred up your favourite cheese to add to the pizza before adding your toppings and watch that cheese string away!

Make sure to check out the link above for all of the tips they provide. You won't eat any drab, frozen pizzas ever again!

Wasting food is avoidable.

Growing up, our father instilled in us that wasting food was not acceptable and he was the king of making something out of nothing. I've always held on to that and will find any way to use up everything if I can before it hits the garbage. I'm going to share a few suggestions for using up products commonly tossed or expired before they are used up.
BREAD

We're all guilty of tossing leftover bread whether it's because mold has appeared or the bread has become incredibly hard. There are so many great ways to use up bread before it expires! In the case of sliced bread, fan the slices out on a clean surface and leave them there until they become slightly hard. (overnight is great) Break them up by hand into smaller chunks and you've got the starts of a great, scratch made stuffing!

In the case of crustier or heartier loaves that have gone a tad hard, Panzanella salad is one of my favourite salads and it is so economical! Check out my RECIPES from the blog!

FRESH VEGGIE STOCK

CELERY TOPS

Celery tops and leaves are commonly discarded in favour of using the stalks. The leaves are fabulous and offer a bit more of a peppery celery flavour, use them in salads or as a fresh garnish on a dish. The tops are great for fresh veggie stocks. They can also be chopped up for sauteing in a dish as well. No reason to discard any part of this veggie! Just make sure to wash the celery stalks top to bottom.
BROCCOLI STALKS

I love broccoli so finding ways to use every little bit was important to me. The stalks are delicious and nutritious as well so it's important to use them! Try pulsing them up in the food processor and adding them to salads. You can also use them to help flavour a veggie stock!

ONIONS

Often times when purchased in bulk, onions can go bad and develop mold on the outside before we have a chance to use them. Have a whole whack on hand? Think onion rings, petals, and chips. A simple breading or batter is all you need and you can use up a few if you have guests. Also, think veggie stock. Onions are key to getting a delicious and flavourful stock and it's a great way to use a good amount up depending on how much stock you're making!
As you can see, it is quite easy and delicious to use up every last bit of things. No need to waste and these ideas are all super simple.
