Quitting Smoking SUCKS!

9/30/2015

I'd like to first start off by congratulating myself and every other person out there who is attempting to quit smoking, my goodness what a difficult feat it is! I've accomplished a lot in my life that at the time I may have thought to be overwhelming but nothing thus far has compared to the awfulness associated with quitting smoking.

Every single thing/person/situation I'm coming into contact is doing one of two things to me, 1) Aggravating me or 2) Infuriating me.

I will keep you all posted as I continue my downward spiral into my new, aggressive, annoying, slightly bitter world of being SMOKE FREE!

Cooking with Kyle

I had the pleasure of visiting with one of my dearest and oldest friends Kyle on Saturday. We have the best time together just reminiscing about our youth and sharing stories. We are also both foodies. WE LOVE FOOD! From prep, to cooking, to eating, we love it all.

She had a nice lineup of ingredients lined up for our dinner and I knew it was going to be good. We whipped up the most flavourful and fresh pasta together. Loads of fresh vegetables and a buttery, garlicky sauce that was just delicious!

We work well in the kitchen together because we teach each other things. I taught her to grate her butter into the biscuit mix when it's cold and she just loved the idea! She taught me about a kind of garlic called California Garlic that I was not familiar with. As I said, we just love cooking and sharing in food together!

Quitting Smoking tomorrow . .

Here's the deal. I've been smoking 13 years now which is very hard to even say. As I've mentioned, my mother recently passed away from cancer, this awakened a feeling of repulsion for cigarettes. However, I've also realized after several failed attempts at quitting that it wasn't going to be very easy either.

I started scouring the internet for support and ended up finding LEAVE THE PACK BEHIND. It's funded through Ontario and they provide the whole treatment whether through the gum or patch. This is absolutely fantastic because I was turned off of those things because of their price.

I'm so excited to start this journey! You'll all likely benefit from this because my hands will need to be busy so I'm expecting more posts and recipes!

Keep your fingers crossed, pray, whatever it is, think of me!

Teaching myself German

Around the time that my mother fell ill with cancer I was looking for ways to distract myself. I started this website because it helped me share my love for cooking as well as learn about new foods and cooking styles that I previously hadn't explored.

I also began teaching myself German through the android app, DUALINGO. I can't rant and rave enough about this free app. There are easily 40 languages available to learn and it's so much fun. My desire to work abroad is getting stronger every day, just the thought of moving across the sea and having to speak another language regularly excites me. Not to mention the different foods I could try and also cook with!

Moral of the story here is download DUALINGO. It`s free and honestly, being bilingual is a great advantage when it comes to the workforce. It gives you a competitive edge  and opens up doors that aren`t open to other people.

My trip to RIPLEYS AQUARIUM

I had the pleasure of visiting the Ripleys Aquarium over the weekend and what an experience that was! Never in a million years would I have expected to see sharks literally swimming over my head. I have an immense fear of the open water so this was just about as close to these creatures as I'd enjoy being.

If you find yourself in Toronto make this a pit stop. So many beautiful and elegant creatures as well as several interactive areas for kids and adults alike. Lots of facts and stories posted throughout the building as well.

I have to admit, probably the best 30$ I've spent in a long time!
