Flashback to 5 years ago and Halloween was time to dress up and drink the night away. I can't remember the last time I dressed up and went out. I absolutely LOVE Halloween however now I seem to love it for different reasons.
Seeing the kiddies all dressed up is just so adorable! I look forward to seeing my nephews all dressed. I definitely wish I could stay home, dress up, and hand out candy. Unfortunately, I'll be working all weekend. I'm definitely going to look into some Halloween celebrations when I'm in Ireland for Halloween next year!

I've finally started reaching out to Hotels in Ireland trying to secure a job in my industry for when I arrive. I don't know if I've told you all about my struggle since graduating college.
I graduated from the Hospitality Hotel and Restaurant Management program at St. Clair College in Windsor Ontario. Since graduating, I have not been able to secure a job within the restaurant or Hotel industry which has furthered my desire to take advantage of the SWAP program. SWAP allows you to live and work in your host country for 1 - 2 years depending on the location. It's a great opportunity to engulf in another culture, enjoy new and exciting foods, and meet new people. It seems to me that it would be an enriching experience. Now that I'm starting to apply it's all starting to feel so real. I am so looking forward to this though, I need a change desperately. I also think the food will be inspiration for my blog! I'll keep you all posted! Just an update.
After 10 days I caved and had a cigarette. Now I'm stuck at 3 or 4 a day. It's not the original 15 which is still a victory but I am essentially very disappointed. My friend and I saw an advertisement for a Spirits of Sandwich walking tour and decided to give it a try. We both love Halloween but as we've gotten older, going to the bar or club dressed up just isn't our cup of tea anymore and Trick or Treating is no longer acceptable. Apparently, Windsor has a few ghostly stories that date back to the 1800's. We had a pretty good time listening to the stories and walking around. There weren't enough stories for me though so I've decided to do a little research and see what I come up with! Do a little searching and you can likely find some fun and inexpensive events around town that stray from the traditional Halloween activities. Lot's of fun can be found if you just look for it!
HAPPY VEG Fall.
I love fall. Everything about it from start to finish; the coloured leaves littering the streets, the cooler temperatures, wearing sweaters, Halloween, and the smells of everything from pumpkins to the fallen leaves themselves. Everything is just so whimsical about it. Are you gearing up for your favourite season as well or has it already passed? I'm too young for a mid life crisis so this must just be part of growing up!
As I approach my 30's I'm constantly second guessing my decisions. Long story short, after graduating from the Hospitality Management Program at St. Clair College I thought I knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to work in a hotel and inevitably manage a department or sector of the hotel, retire on a Caribbean island and open my own Bed and Breakfast. Now I've got several ideas running through my mind and can't seem to decide where I want to go with things. I've been dying to travel and as I get older I'm losing the opportunity to participate in Youth Mobility programs in most countries. Youth Mobility allows you one to two years living, traveling, and working in another country. I have my head set on going to the U.K. and working through GO INTERNATIONAL at a Pub in the countryside somewhere. Sounds like paradise to me. BUT THEN I also love food, like LOVE IT! Do I look for vegetarian cooking schools across the world and attempt to further my cooking as well as traveling? Every day I have a new direction and end up going nowhere. FRUSTRATING! HAPPY VEG With Thanksgiving approaching I am feeling strange as this will be the first year without my beautiful mother. Things have felt extremely different since her passing and every holiday no matter how hard the four of us (Father, Sister, Brother & Myself) try, we just can't seem to celebrate the same anymore.
I am reminded of my mother's love for holiday meals. It was always wonderful to engage in a family meal together. Life disrupted most family dinners but holidays were different, we were always together. This thanksgiving I will be alone for the very first time. Take the weekend to say some extra I love you's to your partners, family. parents, friends, and everyone in between. Be thankful for every relationship you have and cherish every moment! HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL <3 HAPPY VEG Well, I must admit this is basically awful. I'd love to be a beacon of hope to anyone out there who is hoping to quit smoking but I am a far cry from feeling great about it.
With that being said however, I am extremely proud I've kept at it despite fails and cheats here and there, I made it to my first day without a smoke yesterday! The euphoria of making it an entire day sticks with you, trust me! Now I've just got to make it the rest of my life! HAPPY VEG I absolutely love Halloween! I love everything about it from the dressing up to the candy, it's all so fun! Growing up I went out trick or treating every year until I knew people would start making the "You're a little old" comments.
This year I am hoping to have the evening off so that I can revisit my love of dressing up and hand out candy to the kids. Ever since I was blessed with my nephews I learned to re-appreciate those childhood things that I once loved so much. I can't wait to see the kiddies all dressed up and I'm actually considering making some goody bags to hand out, we'll see! What are some Halloween traditions from your childhood or even now that you love? Leave a comment ! HAPPY VEG |
