FINALLY is all I have to say about this. Seaworld has finally agreed to cease their Orca breeding program after years of pressure from animal rights groups and angry people in general. I have unfortunately witnessed the masturbation of an Orca and frankly, it seems so out of this world that I was shocked it actually even happened. Who in their right mind would want that job?
No more Orcas living in bathtubs in the future, that is an astounding ANIMAL WIN! The power of people and their anger towards animal cruelty is astounding. If we all stick together and expose the injustices done to animals we will continue to see progress looking in to the future. I am so happy and excited to see then end of this program. Here's to the Orcas! HAPPY VEG

I It's hard not to be excited when you hear something like this. At the same time however, is it not slightly shocking that this even exists to begin with? Feeding dogs pesticides for a year, slaughtering them, and ripping them open for study hardly seems humane. It's so sad that as technology continues to advance and new techniques are available for these purposes that animals are still used as they are likely the cheapest alternative.
At the end of the day, 64 Beagles will avoid this punishment each year which is an ANIMAL WIN no matter how you look at it. I do think there are some sick and twisted people sitting in prison right now who would be more suitable for this testing but that wouldn't be very humane either. This story really is wonderful! Long story short, Golden Retrievers were considered a status symbol in Turkey until everyone started getting them and they started finding themselves on the streets. These dogs did not adapt to street life well whatsoever and an organization called Adopt a Golden Atlanta has brought 36 retrievers over, given them proper vet care, and will be fostering them out starting next month.
I think this is wonderful news! No animal deserves to be on the streets let alone when it was once a house pet. It takes a pretty heartless person to throw a dog out on the streets so when I first heard this story I was extremely happy! I did however get to thinking, is it fair that while shelter dogs sit and wait to be adopted these rescued dogs receiving national attention will likely be adopted first? Where's the regular, national spotlight on shelter dogs? I don't know if you all remember the story I posted about Justice the dog recently. It was so heartwarming the reception from my community in support of Justice. It was also interesting to see how many people wanted to adopt him. Thousands of people wanted to adopt that beautiful little boy, it was a wonderful display of compassion. This also begs the question here that if this many people want dogs. . . how do our shelters still have dogs? Based on this response to Justice there are 1000's of people here who want dogs and yet these animals remain in the care of the Humane Society. Is it the tragedy that surrounds them that brings out the compassion in us? Anyhow, saving 36 innocent and helpless Golden Retrievers is definitely an ANIMAL WIN but I think it's important to remember that all animals in shelters are looking for love and need a chance, not just the ones who receive national coverage!
