Minimal donations, high cost of operating, and inflation, are pushing the Animal Food Bank of Winnipeg, Manitoba closer and closer to having to shut their doors permanently. The organization announced it was suspending its services indefinitely this week;

"We heavily rely on the generosity of the community in order to provide for pets that need food," 
Nicole Frey, Animal Food Bank Founder.

Animal Food Bank is an organization that donates food to families in need who cannot afford pet food for their furry family members. In the first half of 2022 alone, the organization provided meals for 75, 000 pets, demonstrating a clear necessity for their services throughout Winnipeg. As costs rise and inflation hurts us all, donations slow down and with costs rising, that's a damning combination.

The biggest worry for founder Nicole Frey? That without their services, families will be forced to surrender their pets, which she says is traumatizing for both the pet and the family. Out of ideas and worried about closure, the organization is hoping that the story reignites charitable donations and gets them back in business sooner than later because closing will be devastating for the Food Bank, and the community.
