Israel is on its way to be the first country in the world to end the fur trade altogether. A bill to ban the fur trade is on its way to being implemented which would end the senseless slaughter of innocent foxes, sables, and other fur-bearing animals for clothing and garments. One traditional garment on the chopping block is the Shtreimel, a fur hat worn by married Jewish men on religious holidays. The shtreimel is particularly abhorrent as it takes approximately 30 fur-bearing animals to make one hat.
While many countries across the globe have banned certain aspects of the fur industry, Israel would be the first country to ban the fur industry in its entirety. This would ban the import, export, and production of furs throughout the country. As I previously mentioned, many countries across the globe have tackled one aspect of fur farming while hypocritically allowing others. Banning the production of fur but still allowing fur to be imported and sold is hypocrisy at its finest. Unless you commit to a full ban on the industry altogether, you are continuing to be complicit in the horrendous murder of thousands of fur-bearing animals every year.
There is no necessity in fur and the general populous on our planet is opening their eyes to the horrors of the fur industry. Several surveys across the globe indicate that people are ready for fur to be banned altogether so it's up to our government's to address these concerns and move forward with full fur bans. As I said, banning only certain aspects of the industry is not enough, we need full bans on the fur industry once and for all. We're moving closer and closer towards this goal everyday and news like this is incredibly positive! I will keep y'all posted as information becomes available. Congratulations to Israel and here's to a future that is free from the cruelty of the fur industry! HAPPY VEG
