Ringling Retiring elephants early - :)

The time has finally come! Ringling will be retiring their elephants in May of 2016. This is significantly earlier than their original agreed upon date in 2018 which is even better for the Elephants!

More and more cities were passing "anti-circus" and "anti-elephant" ordinances which was making it difficult to plan the trip across the United States. More and more people across North America are turning their backs on animal shows and for good reason, they're not natural.

What do I mean by this? Simply put, if you traveled to an Elephant's natural habitat you would be hard pressed to find them performing in the wild. It's just not natural and these poor, beautiful animals were being forced to perform for our viewing pleasure. I think by now we can find other ways to amuse ourselves, no?

It is important to note that that their parent company Feld Entertainment, won a significant amount of money in settlements against animal rights groups who were accusing them of animal abuse.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

There are other forms of abuse besides physical. These animals are packed up like props and sent from city to city to perform unnaturally in front of thousands of people. Who's to say the mental or emotional stress and anxiety the animals suffer?

At the end of the day, they are now going to be retired and living in peace. What more can we ask for as Animal lovers?
