United States Bill Aimed at Banning Wild Animals in Circus'

A bill aimed at protecting wild animals forced to perform in circus' was reintroduced to the House of Representatives in 2019 and is currently being mulled over to be signed into law. Unfortunately, it needs the support of the public through emails, phoning in, and contacting your local representatives to voice your support.

Wild animals in circus' suffer tremendously throughout their lives, being denied every thing that comes naturally to them. They are often plucked from a young age and forced into submission through aggressive and cruel methods. They are prodded, poked, and demeaned in order to break their wild instincts making them easier to train. Wild animals like tigers, bears, and elephants are forced to learn tricks that are wholly unnatural to them and put them in compromising positions. Tigers for example, naturally fear fire and yet they are forced to jump through hoops set ablaze all for the entertainment of humans who exploit them.

These poor animals are then forced to cram into tiny cages where they are transported to the next city to endure this entire grueling process over and over again. There are also incidents of wild animals turning on their handlers and attacking or turning on other animals which results in unnecessary injuries to innocent animals. From start to finish, animals in the circus' suffer needlessly for entertainment while many other entertainment options exist that don't exploit wild animals. All of this on top of the fact that these animals also face endangerment in the wild and yet we are plucking them out as babies and forcing them in to a life of servitude.

Countries across the globe have committed to ending wild animals in circus' and the United States needs to get on board. There is simply no excuse for employing animals in this manner any longer especially knowing what we know about how these animals are obtained and the cruelty they endure throughout their lives. The general public supports a ban on wild animals in entertainment and yet we are still struggling to get the government on board. That's why it is crucial that if you live in the United States that you contact your local representatives and let them know you support a ban on wild animals in circus'.
