China has put the skids on lifting a ban that would allow them to use tiger bones and rhino horns to further their medicinal research after only announcing last month that the intended to lift the ban.
Several varieties of tigers and rhinos have fallen into the critically endangered or extinct range within the last 20 years which made the news of China lifting the ban so disappointing and angering. These creatures face the perils of habitat loss and extreme poaching leaving them extremely vulnerable to becoming extinct. Neither species will survive without considerable conservation efforts put in place and especially not if one of the most populous countries in the world starts slaughtering them for medicinal research.
