Green tea is widely renowned for its health benefits. Knowing this, I've made a conscious effort to consume it as often as possible. I currently drink about 5 green teas a week but I'm reaching for one a day.

Green tea has a wide array of positive effects on the body. These include,
  • WEIGHT LOSS - Thanks to an increase in body heat, green tea helps to regulate the absorption of fat. This aids in weight loss along with diet and exercise.
  • It helps lower blood pressure which reduces the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular problems.
  • It's great for your heart. One study found people who drank 1 cup a day had a 28% lower risk of coronary artery disease.
  • It helps in preventing cancer thanks to an antioxidant that fights cell damage.

Green tea itself I find to be a tad unpleasant. I personally enjoy the green tea blends. Green tea with the addition of other flavours to enhance the drink. Ingredients like orange peel, cinnamon,  and blueberry ginseng are blended with green tea leaves giving the tea a delicious and enhanced overall flavour.

Whatever flavour fits your fancy, try to avoid overdoing it with sweeteners or creamers. The flavoured blends are so subtle and wonderful that they're best when consumed as is. Also, adding sugar or creamers / milks will increase the calorie / sugar content as well. I'm telling you, the flavoured varieties really don't need a thing. If you find that you MUST sweeten the tea, opt for a drizzle of all natural honey or pure maple syrup for a cleaner, natural sweetness.

Get more green tea in to your diets and welcome all of the benefits to your health the tea offers!

McCain Marche Spinach & Cheese Pockets

,These have to be one of my favourite new products to hit the market recently.

Pizza pockets were a staple food of ours growing up. My mother loved them and we all did as well. As time went on and my taste buds developed, I no longer cared for the only vegetarian flavour they had and stopped purchasing them.

Now, McCain has introduced a grownup version of the pizza pocket with their Marche line of products. Their line of pockets include several meat based varieties but it's their vegetarian pocket that has me excited.
Introducing their Three Cheese and Spinach pockets. These pockets contain absolutely no artificial flavours or colours and are baked over being fried prior to being frozen for sale. They are filled with spinach, mozzarella, parmesan, and provolone cheeses along with a delicious and flavourful tomato sauce. The crust of the pocket always  bakes up wonderfully and has a lovely, crispy texture.

Remember my tip; when frozen foods like this offer both microwave and oven directions, the oven is the only way to go! Don't be tempted by a quicker cook time in the microwave because the resulting crust is slightly wet and not crispy like it is out of the oven. ALWAYS go for the oven!

Look for these in the frozen pizza section of your local grocery store! Follow the link below for all the information about this product straight from the McCain website!
