Very easy to whip up as they're baked in under 15 minutes from a chilled state and only require a flip or two for even cooking. I loved how crispy they got on the outside which as you all know, I think is so important when it comes to snack foods like this. The flavour was really wonderful and strong thanks to a collection of Indian inspired flavours. I really picked up on the coconut which I wasn't initially sure about but ended up really liking in the end. The only thing missing was a yogurt based dipping sauce that I should have whipped up but otherwise, they're pretty delicious. My only complaint would be that the inside was lacking in texture but the outside made up for it. BYPASS or BUY? - BUY! Definitely pick these up. They're super flavourful and easy to prepare, full of fresh, wholesome ingredients, and don't contain palm oil. These made me excited to try the rest of their line which includes several different bites like these ones, sausages, burgers, and bakes. Have you tried GOSH products? First off, they're not expensive at all, only 1.99 for 4 patties which is a really good price. That's essentially two meals for one person or one meal for two you know so it's a really great price point. When it comes to cooking the burgers, it's simply a matter of heating up a fry pan with a little oil and frying them up on both sides until golden brown and crispy. One thing I noticed is that they needed a bit more time than the box suggested to get a nice crust so keep that in mind if you like things nice and crisp like I do.
For service, I tossed them on an Italian style roll with lettuce, onion and chive cheese, and some mayo. Much like the other What's Cooking Garden Veggie Burgers I tested (happyveggie.weebly.com/bypass-or-buy-reviews-and-more/bypass-or-buy-whats-cooking-veggie-burgers), they were lovely on the outside but lacked any kind of texture on the inside. The inside was a mashed potatoey texture that didn't work well with a crusty roll because every time you bit down into it and put pressure on the patty it kind of splooged (for lack of a better word) out the sides of the bun. This can prove to be quite annoying if you've mistakenly purchased the kind of rolls I purchased. Taste wise however, these burgers were flipping delicious. The inside was so flavourful and creamy, they were super tasty. I could see and really taste the cauliflower and found there to be the perfect amount of cheddar to really give that savoury, rich flavour to the burgers. I think they are some of the best tasting take home patties I've tried since being here in Ireland! BYPASS or BUY! - BUY! Texture aside, they're super delicious guys and had I purchased a softer bun, they would have been perfect. The coating gets nice and crispy, the inside is rich and full of cauliflower, and there's a delicious cheddary flavour that's hard not to love. Also, if you just fried them up and served them with a fresh side salad, you wouldn't be disappointed I'll tell you that! I strongly suggest picking up a box for yourselves :) HAPPY VEG |
