GARDEIN

CRISPY CHIK'N SLIDERS
I didn't even have to think about this one when I was selecting my fave product from the Gardein line. Gardein has one of the most expansive plant-based lines with everything from imitation seafood to these delicious mini chik'n sliders. The sliders are literally addictive and I don't believe I've ever eaten less than all 4 of them in one go. They're crispy but retain a good amount of moisture inside and they're honestly delicious. They're definitely in my top 5 favourite vegan frozen goodies.

BOCA

CHIK'N VEGGIE NUGGETS
I'm a sucker for nugs and these are definitely my fave product from the line that I've tried so far. They were undeniably crispy and definitely hit the spot. While they aren't my favourite plant-based nug, they're certainly delish in a pinch!

YVES VEGGIE

VEGGIE GROUND
Yves veggie Ground has been a go-to for me for as long as I can remember. Long before Beyond Meat released their eerily similar to beef ground, Yves was the product you went to for all of your beefless needs. It takes on the flavours of whatever you're cooking really well and provides the necessary texture you're looking for. It's great in dishes like Shepherd's Pie or Chili and also makes a fabulous Bolognese.

LIGHTLIFE

VEGGIE DOGS
Although hot dogs are not on my regular meal rotation, these are the ones I always buy when the craving for dogs strikes. They're eerily similar to meat based dogs in every way. Smell, taste, texture, appearance, etc., they're definitely proof that you can still eat everything you loved before giving up meat. The next time you get that craving for chili dogs, go with the Lightlife brand ;)

BEYOND MEAT

BREAKFAST PATTIES
Let's be honest here folks, the entire Beyond Meat line is pretty fabulous. There hasn't been a product that they've released that I haven't absolutely loved, including the breakfast patties. The breakfast patties have changed the breakfast game. They're so flavourful & juicy, and there's some serious magic that happens while they sizzle in a hot skillet. Honestly, they're delish on their own as an accompaniment to other brekkie items or slapped between a bagel for some breakfast sandwich actsh. By far, these are my fave thing from beyond Meat to date!

PRES CHOICE

PLANT BASED "MEAT" BROTHS
I couldn't be more obsessed with these broths from President's Choice. Both the Beefless & Chickenless broths have an abundance of flavour and both smell eerily similar to meaty broths. They have really allowed me to cook recipes as close to the original as possible. For example, my "Beef" and Mushroom Stroganoff wouldn't have been the same without the contributions of the PC Bran Beefless broth. They are the perfect addition to soups, stews, chilis, and gravies. I'm telling y'all, these broths are the bees knees!

BYPASS or BUY - Nuggs

Y'all should know by now that my love for plant-based nuggies runs deep. I've tried every single plant-based nug on the market and I have no intentions on stopping. This brings us to the NUGGS brand; a brand I've thought only to exist in the United States until this past weekend.

While I was out shopping Saturday, this random box of NUGGS was stocked amongst other products it did not belong with. I couldn't find any other boxes or even a price for that matter but knew that it was a sign. This random box of Nuggs was meant for me and I couldn't ignore the signs. I snatched them up without knowing the price because frankly, I'd heard so much about these elusive Nuggs that I knew I was leaving with them, regardless of price.
Right out the box, these Nuggs had a very chicken-esque vibe to them. The shapes were more authentic in that they were all kind of unique, not so processed in appearance. I baked them according to the package direction and tucked in. Here's my thoughts!

APPEARANCE

9/10 - A lot of the times, these plant-based nugs all kind of look the same coming out of the box, giving off major processed vibes. The NUGGS brand had unique shapes that more closely resembled real chicken. Out of the oven, they were golden brown, had a lovely greasy sheen that was so inviting, and looked plump and juicy. Visually, they had it all when compared to real chicken nuggs.

TEXTURE

9/10 - The coating on the Nuggs brand was probably my favourite I've tried to date. It reminded me so much of the McDonald's chicken nuggets that I'm certain we all absolutely loved growing up. It had a lovely crisp and yet also provided a good chew. The "meaty" inside also provided a very similar chicken like texture. Pretty bang on if you ask me.

FLAVOUR

6.5/10 - I was really expecting some banging flavour in the coating of these nuggies but they were just ok. They were definitely tasty and I really enjoyed the flavour of the coating but found that they could have used a little salt to really bring out all of the deliciousness. I found them just a little bit bland on the inside where that "chicken" flavour mattters most.

BUY!!

While I think they could have amped up the flavour a little bit, everything else was literal perfection. They were so reminiscent of the McDonald's nuggies that started it all for me. They had the perfect texture, got gloriously golden and just the right amount of greasy out of the oven, and provided that perfect nuggie experience. I dipped in honey mustard to my heart's content and I couldn't have been happier whilst eating them. Get a box, get a dip, and get to eating!
