Jarred Pesto

Pesto is generally comprised of basil, garlic, parmesan, and pine nuts all blended together with oil to make a fragrant, green sauce. It's a delicious addition to pastas, sauces, soups, and so many other dishes.

Pine nuts are expensive and relatively hard to find depending on where you live. A small bag of less than 100g can run you almost ten dollars and when you factor in the other ingredients you need for the pesto you can spend in upwards of 15$.

Jarred Pesto is one product I absolutely love. It's so inexpensive compared to home preparation and it delivers on flavour! I regularly use pesto and found that buying it prepared saved me time and money!

The only difference will be vibrancy in colour. Fresh herbs obviously will make for a greener pesto but basil goes dark quickly when handled which is why the jarred pesto won't look as vibrant. This is in no way an indicator of the freshness of the product.

When shopping for Pesto it's best to look in the international section of your grocer to get the best, authentic tasting pesto straight from Italy.

Fresh is always best but this jarred, ready made go to is great to have on hand!
