Have you ever prepared something and thought you had it all figured out only to taste and realize you'd created the opposite of a masterpiece?
We all have those dishes that we can churn out perfectly without even trying but then there's the dishes that seem to flop more than fly. Flops in the kitchen are actually a good thing! With anything you are learning to do, mistakes help us learn and it is no different in this case. I'd have to say my two gray areas are soup (believe it or not) and pastry dough. I make a killer soup but I've also made a few soups that were scary and that's why I continue practicing. As far as dough goes, I am still trying to find the best recipe because I've tried about 5 or 6 and had very little success in the end. This is actually helping me figure out ratios which is handy in the kitchen. What are your gray areas? Leave your comments or tweet me with your responses and remember, flopping is actually a good thing! HAPPY VEG
